Judges of Fulton State Court

With 10 elected State Court judges, led by Chief Judge Albert L. Thompson, and another group of 6 Fulton County Magistrate Court judges, led by Chief Magistrate Jay Roth, this court processes more DUI cases and other misdemeanor criminal cases than any jury court in the State of Georgia. 

The Magistrate judges sometimes “stand-in” for the State Court judges, who may be absent for other court business or for personal reasons. Also assisting these judges is Senior State Court Judge Charles L. Carnes.  These 17 judges preside over misdemeanor criminal cases and are also able to hear civil “tort” cases of unlimited dollar amounts.
